Beta Reading

Have you recently completed a full length manuscript? If so, I would love to beta-read your novel or memoir! As a beta-reader, I will provide my overall impression and a critique of your story as well as give developmental and line edits throughout the manuscript.

I will focus on elements of storytelling such as:

✯ character development ✯ dialogue ✯ setting ✯ pace/flow ✯ structure ✯ story arc

As well as bring attention to:

✯ plot holes/inconsistencies ✯ manuscript strengths ✯ opening scenes ✯ how the story ends

For novels, I’m open to reading any genre that leans literary, but I especially love speculative / sci-fi, magical realism, and mystery.

For memoirs, I’m partial to spiritual journeys and travel adventures, but also open to reading any type of compelling story.

Please email: Sarahndipity1024@gmail.com to tell me about your project and request a quote. Email must include genre, word count, and a brief summary of your book.

I look forward to helping you on your book writing journey!

"Sarah is an amazing beta reader—astute, professional and efficient. The suggestions and feedback Sarah gave me were invaluable. My book is much stronger and more coherent after working with her. She delivered in a super timely manner and all communications with her were excellent. I would recommend Sarah to anyone wanting a beta reader with an education and background in writing, who truly understands what it takes to properly shape and execute a good story. I will definitely be working with Sarah again. Thanks Sarah!"

"Sarah's beta read was fantastic. She offered thorough, direct comments that pointed out issues with repetition, inconsistency, and structure, among many others. Her MFA and experience in creative writing is clear from the excellent quality of her feedback. I highly recommend working with Sarah!"

--Yolande House, memoir and essay writer

"Sarah read my memoir at the beginning of this year and incrementally gave me feedback on each of my story's eight parts via an extremely user-friendly Google platform, offering constructive and developmental advice on every aspect of my writing. I found her approach extremely professional, intelligent and collaborative and am grateful to her for pointing out that certain areas of my writing needed fleshing out, encouraging me to go a bit deeper into myself, avoid empty statements, and be a little more explicit about some of my life experience as a result of which I feel my latest draft is much improved. I'm grateful to her too for the long list of creative writing resources/links she furnished me with which will help to help to lend some extra polish. Thank you Sarah for all your wise and thoughtful advice."

--Doninica Yannaghas, memoir writer

"Sarah was a beta reader for my 75000 word memoir. She draws on many years of experience, her MFA, her own writing across genres, and teaching writing. I found her feedback to be clear, kind, and constructive with careful attention to both the overall book project as well as on the line level. I highly recommend Sarah's services to anyone who might need a beta reader."
